Getting to Know P.S. 211 and Our School Website

Welcome to the P.S. 211 Elm Tree Family!

At P.S. 211 Elm Tree Elementary School, we believe that clear communication along with our parent’s involvement within our school community is key to our student’s success. With this in mind, our goal is to utilize the many digital tools (such as our school website) to constantly stay in contact with our parents while also keeping them informed of all that goes on within our school on a day-to-day basis.

We want our parents to have everything they need to be active participants in their child’s education, which is why we have redesigned our school website to provide our parents with the information and resources that they need to achieve this goal. Everything that our parents need to know about our school and how to ensure your child's success is transparent on our website.

A Message from Our Principal

Elm Tree Elementary’s Principal, Ms. Kristin Niven, is a dedicated and hard-working leader who always strives to challenge our students to be the best they can be both academically and socially. Her number one goal is to consistently provide the support and resources that our parents, students and our staff need to be successful throughout the school year.

One of the biggest highlights of our school is our focus on dual-language programs which is something that our school community desperately needs and appreciates. We view our school as being the place “Where the Future Begins Today” and that is a mantra that our staff puts into practice each and every day.

You can read more about Principal Niven’s mission/vision on our dedicated Principal's Message page which can be accessed using the preceding link or the button below:

Our Mission & Vision

Elm Tree Elementary School is a community that extends past the physical building. We are a safe, nurturing, respectful learning community where students are encouraged to purposefully explore and innovate through technology, both independently and cooperatively.

Our vision at Elm Tree Elementary School is that through collaborative partnerships with students, parents, teachers and the local community, we will support one another, adapt to new challenges and plan, learn and grow stronger together.

A Deeper Look Into What P.S. 211 Elm Tree Elementary is All About

Getting to know a school inside and out through words written on a page is almost entirely impossible. At Elm Tree Elementary, we believe that obtaining an understanding of what our school is all about is best told through pictures and videos along with stories and memories shared by our students and staff.

We are a school that strongly believes in following the Department of Education’s Framework for Great Schools. All six of the elements that are a part of the framework are also part of our school’s guiding principles when it comes to allowing our students to spread their wings and reach new heights of success.

Take a Look at Our Official School Stats and Goals

Every school within the New York City Department of Education has an official page on the New York City Department of Education website where parents can review various statistics and vital information such as a school’s budget, the grades that a school supports, their Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) or even information on free student meals.

We pride ourselves on being a very data driven school and, with this in mind, we keep track of our own data in-house while aligning this data with various goals that we want to reach every school year.
