Alternate Drop-Off Request (School Transportation)

Requesting an Alternate Drop-Off Location for Your Child

Some families receiving Specialized Transportation may need their child to be dropped off on certain days at a different location from their home address, such as therapy sessions, childcare providers, or after school programs.

These requests are subject to availability and may not be provided based on the location of the requested drop-off and other factors; in general, requests for alternate afternoon drop-offs in a borough that is not in the same borough as the school or the home address will not be approved.

These requests generally take around 10 business days to take effect. Once approved, requests for same-day drop-off changes cannot be arranged.

Alternate afternoon bus drop-off arrangements can be requested online. Please visit the Transportation Support Hub for more information about alternate PM drop-off service and to submit a request.

Please note the following:

  • These requests are subject to route availability, and may be denied based on lack of availability.
  • The requested address must be within the 5 boroughs. We usually cannot approve addresses outside of the borough of residence and borough of attendance.
  • If approved, these requests will generally take about a week to take effect.
  • Requests for same-day/immediate/temporary changes will not be honored.
  • Requests for alternate PM service will only be granted to 1 (one) address, even if the request is for different days of the week. Multiple address requests will not be honored.
  • This form must be completed by the child’s primary parent/guardian, except for students in foster care, whose foster care agency can submit on behalf of the parent/guardian and foster parent. Schools are now able to fill out this form on behalf of a parent/guardian if the parent/guardian requests the school to do so.
