Thank you to all who participated in our Winter 2026 Family Survey


We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your perspectives. Your feedback helps us reflect on what is working well and guides how we continue to grow and strengthen our school community.



Below is a summary of what we heard from 57 family responses and how we plan to work together moving forward.

 

School Safety & Security


What We Heard: Families continue to report that students feel safe at school, with over 95% indicating safe or very safe. While “very safe” responses slightly decreased, there was a corresponding increase in families selecting “safe,” showing overall stability in this area.


What We’re Doing: 

  • Continuing to maintain strong safety systems and supervision throughout the school day.
  • Monitoring feedback closely to ensure every child and family continues to feel secure.
 
 
 

Bullying & Conflict Resolution


What We Heard: There was a positive increase in families reporting that the school addresses bullying and conflicts effectively, with fewer families selecting “somewhat effectively.”


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to strengthen restorative practices and consistent responses to student conflict.
  • Ensuring clear communication with families when concerns arise.
 
 

Behavior Expectations


What We Heard: Families continue to feel that behavior expectations are communicated clearly. While fewer families selected “very well,” there was a strong increase in “well,” indicating consistent understanding overall.


What We’re Doing:

  • Maintaining clear, consistent schoolwide expectations.
  • Continuing to partner with families to reinforce expectations at home and school.
 
 

Welcoming, Inclusive & Secure Environment


What We Heard: Families continue to feel that Elm Tree is welcoming and secure, with a shift from “very welcoming” to “welcoming,” indicating a strong but steady perception overall.


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to foster a respectful, inclusive environment.
  • Expanding opportunities for family engagement and school community events.
 
 

Communication with Families


What We Heard: Families continue to feel informed, with an increase in “well informed” responses. While “very well informed” responses decreased slightly, overall communication remains strong.


What We’re Doing:

  • Strengthening consistency across communication platforms.
  • Increasing opportunities for direct engagement, including workshops and meetings.
 
 

Diversity & Cultural Celebration


What We Heard: Families continue to feel that the school values diversity and celebrates different cultures. While “very well” responses decreased, more families reported “well,” indicating continued strength in this area.


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to celebrate the rich diversity of our community.
  • Expanding culturally responsive practices and events that honor our families.
 
 

Instructional Quality & Academic Support


What We Heard: Families report high satisfaction with instruction and academic support. There was a slight shift from “very satisfied” to “satisfied,” with overall positive responses remaining strong.


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to use student data to guide instruction and interventions.
  • Strengthening small-group instruction and targeted support.
 
 

Programs & Learning Resources


What We Heard: Families report a continued increase in satisfaction with programs such as afterschool, tutoring, and ENL supports, with fewer “somewhat effective” responses. 


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to expand and strengthen academic and enrichment programs.
  • Ensuring equitable access to resources for all students.
 
 

Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)


What We Heard:  Families continue to feel the school supports students’ social and emotional development well, with overall responses remaining stable.


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing strong SEL practices across classrooms.
  • Providing opportunities that build confidence, relationships, and emotional well-being.
 
 

Student Engagement & Challenge


What We Heard: Families report that students are engaged and challenged in their learning, with stable responses and a slight increase in “often.”


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to design engaging, rigorous learning experiences.
  • Supporting teachers in differentiating instruction to meet student needs.
 
 

Teacher, Staff & Leadership Relationships


What We Heard: Families continue to value the professionalism, care, and responsiveness of our staff. While some “very satisfied” responses shifted to “satisfied,” overall feedback remains highly positive.


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to prioritize strong relationships between families and staff.
  • Supporting ongoing professional learning and collaboration.
 
 

School Leadership


What We Heard: Families report that school leadership continues to maintain a positive school culture, with an increase in “effective” responses.


What We’re Doing:

  • Continuing to build a strong, collaborative school culture.
  • Using family feedback to guide schoolwide decisions and improvements.
 
 
 

Next Steps & Ongoing Improvements


We remain committed to continuous growth by closely monitoring survey trends, strengthening communication and family engagement, expanding programs and supports to meet student and family needs, and ensuring all voices are heard and reflected in our ongoing school improvement efforts.
