May 14th, 2024 - ALERT: Update Regarding Student’s Personal Devices

Dear families and staff of P.S. 211 Elm Tree Elementary School,

We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some information and updates regarding the devices that are currently assigned to students (which they currently take with them whenever they go home for the day).

As we approach the end of the academic year, this is an important reminder that unless otherwise directed, students must return any NYCPS issued educational technology devices (iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, etc.) to our Tech Team at P.S. 211 Elm Tree Elementary.

We will begin the collection of all student devices and all supporting accessories (including keyboards, cases, power cords, etc. that were originally distributed to your child) on Monday, June 3rd, 2024. 

Please be advised that this guidance is for ALL students across ALL grades and after this date your child will no longer be allowed to bring the device back home with them (which means they will not have them for the Summer Break).

Collecting these devices will allow us to assess device condition, address any necessary repairs and maintenance, update device software and operating systems, and prepare for distribution at the start of the new school year.

It is important to note that as per NYCPS policy, when a student transfers schools, including transferring from elementary to middle/intermediate school, transferring from middle/intermediate to high school, or if a student is discharged from the New York City Public Schools at any grade level, the device must be returned to the school the student is currently attending (in this case it would be Elm Tree Elementary School).

We want to assure you that if a student lacks a personal device at home and needs a school-issued device to complete their schoolwork, one will be assigned from the new school they attend in September 2024 (after their return from the Summer Break). 

If your child needs a device for Summer Rising, a device may be requested by filling out our P.S. 211 Elm Tree Elementary Student Device Request & Student Device Loan Agreement Form.
