Cool Culture Program Overview

P.S. 211 is Excited to be Partnering with the Awesome Cool Culture Program

At Elm Tree Elementary, we understand the importance of providing options for our families to continue learning even when they’re not in school. This is why our partnership with the Cool Culture program is so important.

Cool Culture is a way for students and their families to discover and learn more about art and culture in fun and interesting ways. At the core of Cool Culture's work is the use of art and culture as a vehicle for transformation that engages our emotional, intellectual and political imaginations.

Why Should You Sign Up to Participate in Our School’s Cool Culture Program?

Cool Culture believes that art is a human right, a powerful means of self-expression, and a bridge that allows us to transcend boundaries between and across cultures to build community and to increase our capacity for dialogue and understanding. This belief is aligned with our goal to engage our students in learning outside of the classroom which is why we felt that this program was a great fit for our school community.

Joining our “Chippy Travels” Cool Culture Program provides our families with a Cool Culture Family Pass that allows those families to receive free and unlimited general admission for up to 5 people (children and adults) to 90 partner cultural institutions for one year! All families have to do is present their current Family Pass upon entry and they’ll be free to explore the location as much as they want!

Please be advised that our “Chippy Travels” Cool Culture Program is currently restricted to our Kindergarten students and their families, however, this may change in the future.

Make Learning Fun with the Chippy Travels Cool Culture Program!

One of the awesome ways that we blended learning and fun is by coming up with the idea that our families who are part of the “Chippy Travels” Cool Culture Program take our mascot Chippy with them whenever they visit one of the many sites which this program supports. Once there, all they have to do is take some photos standing next to Chippy and share your amazing photos with us!

Want to know the best part? The more sites you visit and the more pictures you take, the higher your chances of winning a special prize! Please see below for a brief overview of what our families have to do:

  • Use your Cool Culture Pass at any participating location such as parks, zoos and museums (more information on where the Cool Culture Pass can be used will be below)
  • Take a family photo with Chippy at the visited site
  • Send the a copy of the photo by email to [email protected] with the subject line: Cool Culture Visit (current school year)

Once we receive your pictures we will post them on our Cool Culture Chippy Adventure Celebration Wall!

We know that Chippy will be incredibly happy to go with you and your family to find new adventures! Don’t forget that the more sites you visit the higher your chances are of winning that special prize!
