May 8th, 2023 - Everything You Need to Know About the NEW NYC School Bus Phone Application

 

Dear families and staff of P.S. 211 Elm Tree Elementary School,

 

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the NEW NYC School Bus Phone Application that the New York City Department of Education recently released.

 

The NYC Department of Education’s School Bus Project Team has been hard at work on releasing a phone application for parents to always be in the know about their child’s school bus location in real-time. 

 

Parents and guardians with students who are assigned to a yellow school bus route will be able to view the bus’s location in real-time, receive notifications for arrival times, view student boarding details, look through the FAQs and even view all of this information within their desired language.

 

The NYC School Bus Project Team recently sent out a letter for parents to schools which we would like to share with you below:

 

Dear Parents & Guardians, 

 

NYC Public Schools has been working on a multi-year project to update NYC’s school transportation system in partnership with Via, the leading provider of Transit Tech. 

 

This project helps caregivers and schools with student transportation and improve the efficiency of busing operations. 

 

The project will provide real-time bus location and data to all caregivers, students, schools, school staff, school bus drivers, and school bus companies across NYC.   

 

Your school has technology to see the location of certain bus routes for arrival and departure each day. 

 

As a next step, NYC Public Schools and Via would like to introduce the NYC School Bus App and your student’s bus route has been selected to join!  

 

You can download the App on your smartphone (iPhone or Android) from the App Store (iPhone), Google Play store (Android), or visit the Link to View the NYC School Bus Information on the web. 

 

In the app you can see the location of your student’s bus in real time and track the journey to and from school.  

 

In order to log into the app or the web app, you will need your NYCSA – credentials. 

 

If you need support with your NYCSA account, please reach out to your student’s school’s or visit the NYC Schools Account website. 

 

If you have any questions about the app or would like to give feedback, please reach out to your school’s transportation coordinator and they will support you!
